Writing

Through our English curriculum, we promote high standards of language and literacy by equipping pupils with a strong command of the spoken and written word.

Writing is sequenced by ensuring coverage across all genres throughout our year groups and within each year group, the complexity increases over the year.

All our writing units are based on high quality texts which expose our children to a range of vocabulary through age related literature. 

Children are encouraged to share their ideas through discussion and dialogue with learning partners, allowing them to develop their ideas and opinions in a supportive environment. 

All children are supported to access the learning through a range of support and scaffolding. In writing, word banks, writing frames and adult support aids all children.
