School Wellbeing
This term we have been thinking about our Wellbeing. Our Wellbeing is about feeling happy, healthy and safe. To achieve this, we need to think about lots of things like talking about the things that worry us, learning techniques to help us feel calm and relaxed, using our Golden Rules to help us to learn, and understanding how we can look after ourselves and each other.

NSPCC Workshops
On Thursday 13th October, Penny and Jo from the NSPCC came to visit our Year 5 and Year 6 classes. They talked to us about the Speak Out Stay Safe campaign.
With the help of their mascot, Buddy the speech bubble, children learn they have the right to:
- speak out and be heard
- be safe
- get help when they need it.
Mindfulness in School
At Markyate Village School we work with Mindfulness coach, Lucy Mortimer, who provides workshops and assemblies for our children, and workshops and training for all our staff. Lucy also offers parent workshops and 1:1 sessions for pupils. If you are interested in booking a 1:1 session, please contact the school office.

On Monday, the 11th July, we had an assembly on how we can cope with change. We talked about the changes in our lives that can be very exciting and other times when it might make us feel worried or anxious because we are not sure what will happen. There are lots of ways we can manage our feelings. The Wellbeing Bingo card below has some useful ideas. There are also charities that will help support children and families deal with changes.
